Ministries and Programs

“Fellowship” is the church word for people having fun together.  At St. Luke’s we enjoy getting together often, and that almost always includes food and conversation. Some of our favorite events include a summer picnic and pool party and a Seder meal the week before Easter.  During Advent (the month before Christmas) and Lent (the 40 days before Easter), we gather on Wednesday evenings for a simple dinner.

Women's Group

St. Luke’s has a vibrant Women’s Group with monthly activities that have included glass blowing, hiking, BUNCO, making pottery, an escape room (we didn’t escape!), and a museum murder mystery, and many others as well as service projects like making blankets for Project Linus and walking in a 6K for childhood cancer and another 6 K walk for water. Interested? We would love for you to join us!

Fellowship

At St. Luke’s we believe in sharing the love of God with each other through fellowship. Each week we have a lively “Fellowship Hour” after the worship service where we share food and catch up with our church family to celebrate each other’s joys and care for our brothers and sisters when needed.  We enjoy trivia nights, game nights, whole church campouts, dinners together and other activities throughout the year. We also have an active women’s group and youth group with monthly fellowship activities. We feel that being one in fellowship is an important and integral part of our life together as the body of Christ.

Monthly Book Club

Do you love reading? Looking for a fun and low-key book group? Have we got a group for you! Our monthly book group meets - well monthly - and reads everything from classics to fiction and all genres in between. We usually meet on zoom at 7:00 pm on the first or second Thursday of each month. Some of the titles we have read in the past include “Little Fires Everywhere”, “A Gentleman in Moscow”, “Where the Crawdads Sing”, “The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek”, “West with Giraffes”, “James”, “The Color of Water”, “Travels with Charley in Search of America”, “Horse”, “Remarkably Bright Creatures”, and “The Oregon Trail”. Each month after our book discussion we make a group decision about the next book we will read. If you have some suggestions for great books to read, we’d love to hear from you! Hope you can join us!

Youth Group

Our middle and high school youth group is very active and participates in monthly fun activities and/or service projects.

Students receive MCPS SSL hours for the service projects they complete. Some of our past activities include going to Sky Zone, playing Monster Mini-golf, hiking, overnight lock-ins, and Youth Olympics. Some of our service projects have included:

  • Making hoes for Sole Hope

  • Making Blankets for Project Linus

  • Making a meal for a local men’s shelter

  • 30 Hour Famine

  • 6K Walk for Water

  • Collecting food for a food pantry.

We really enjoy welcoming new people into our group and would love to meet you! Come join us!

Little Free Pantry

St. Luke’s has a Little Free Pantry outside and available 24/7 to anyone who needs it.

Not in need? We accept donations of non-perishable food items, baby supplies, and feminine hygiene products.

Donations can be dropped off at any time right in the pantry.

Additional Programs

Cardio Drumming

Work out with friends to lively upbeat music in the comfort of your own home and feel the tension fall away! We gather on Zoom on Tuesday nights at 5:30.

If you need equipment, call the church and we can loan you a yoga ball, bucket and sticks - although many of us do the routines without any equipment at all!

We laugh and have fun as we work out together and there's plenty of room for you!
