Youth
Young people are a vital part of
life at St. Luke’s. As much as possible we try to integrate our
children and youth into all the parts of life in our congregation.
During worship we include a children’s message and have high school
students serve as readers, communion servers, and ushers. Service
projects at our church include all ages and there is a wonderful
friendship between our older and younger members.
The senior high youth are already
working towards the next ELCA Youth Gathering which will take place
in New Orleans the summer of 2012. Students had a great time at the
2009 Gathering, also in New Orleans, as well as the 2006 Gathering
in San Antonio.
Fun activities for our children
and teens vary every year but include activities such as skating,
finding their way through a Corn Maze, movies, apple picking, sleep
ins at the church, etc. etc.
A highlight for our teens is
participating in the 30 Hour Famine. Those taking part drink only
water and fruit juice for 30 hours, while learning about the crisis
of world hunger, making food for the homeless shelters, and just
having fun.
